The CSI India – CEO meeting was a grand success with the presence of the CEOs and liaison delegates from 8 cement majors across India. The list of attendees included ACC, Ambuja, CRH India, Zuari Cement, UltraTech, Dalmia, Heidelberg and SDCC-Votorantim.
The event hosted by Zuari Cement on the 8th Jan 2015 in Bangalore, was chaired by our Managing Director, Mr.Nabil Francis and attended by Mr. Philippe Fonta- Managing Director, WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) and his team from CSI India.
The senior management team from Zuari Cement consisting of Mr. Krishna Srivastava, Whole Time Director, Mr. Carlo Foroni, Director Technical and Mr. Gopi Ranganathan (as Liaison Delegate – Zuari Cement) attended the event. Mr. Stefano Gardi, Sustainable Development Director, Italcementi Group was part of the event expressing the importance of CSI initiatives for Zuari Cement.
The key purpose of meeting was to acknowledge Zuari Cement as the new co-chair for the year 2015 & 2016. The meeting further deliberated on the CSI role in India led by Mr. Nabil Francis as Meeting Chair with active participation from other cement company CEOs.
The meeting further discussed on the updates and the action plan by the co-chairs of the Safety, Climate and Communication Working Groups presented by Mr. P. Jagatheesan (Zuari), Mr. K.N. Rao (ACC) and Mr. Jacob Mathew (Zuari) respectively.
The highlight of the event was an active CEO leadership session which focused on challenges and best practice in Safety, Biodiversity/Water management and the road map for CSI in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nabil Francis our Managing Director elucidated that the meeting was constructive, with lots of ideas being discussed on Safety, Climate and outlining the roadmap of CSI in the country.
‘I am privileged to be the co-chair of CSI in India for 2015 and 2016. I confirm our commitment is towards ensuring the economic, environmental and social leadership initiatives by all associated members of CSI India. The contribution from each team member is crucial for realization of this vision.
Collectively the member companies have accepted their role in bringing more transparency with regard to the incident sharing of safety at plants, water & climate management measures.’
